Kar CBO offers an interactive environment for agriculture, horti-culture, agro-forestry, bakery, fishery, carpentry, transportation, water development, administration, life skills and commununication.

So far, Kar CBO has realised 4 fish ponds.

One of the projects within Kar CBO which has been underway and has been directly implemented by Kar CBO is the agro-forestry with over 10,000 diverse species of tree seedlings.

The Bakery project has been one of the initial activities of Kar CBO. A group of youths has been trained and are baking bread on daily basis. They supply the breads to local kiosks, schools and events in the area.

Another project which is underway is the bee-keeping project. Bee-hives are currently being constructed.

'Water is Life.'

This theme was the driving force behind the piped water supply project which was implemented in 2012. It was one the initiatives which formed the inspiration for the community to affiliate themselves into Kar Community Based Organization. Trenches were being dug and pipes were brought by the Government of Kenya (GoK) to supply clean drinking water to schools and houses in the area.

Kar CBO encourages and improves (in)formal education amongst the youth and the community at large.

Kar CBO has organised several cultural trips for primary schools to places such as Simbi Nyaima, Lake Victoria and Bala Hotsprings; encouraging the pupils 'to be student of their place'.

Kar CBO invites health workers from Matata (Hospital) to give youth from the community a workshop on the topic of HIV/AIDS.

Kar CBO improves livelihood.

Kar CBO encourages playgrounds, games and creative activities for the children. The Community Centre's activities form a direct link and a source of inspiration and motivation to the Kar CBO activities. The children learn in an informal way to participate, appreciate, contribute and gain insight into their possible (future) involvement in the community.

The 'fireless cooking' project is executed by the Nyagowa Women Group.
